Dual ram vertical broaching machines offer reliability and performance

Ohio Broach & Machine Company has the capability to manufacture dual ram vertical broaching machines. Available in five- to 15-ton capacities, and 48- to 72-inch strokes, these rugged units have been designed with many best-in-class standard features, so they can perform well in many broaching applications.

Rugged: The machine ways for the models in this series are composed of high carbon steel, hardened and tempered, then ground to closely controlled tolerances. This ensures these durable units have a long service life.

Precise: The machine’s precision ram slide is manufactured from close-grain, high-tensile, cast-iron material. Slide surfaces are hand-scraped for a precise fit, and then flaked for maximum lubrication penetration.

High-performing: The unit’s fixed-displacement, vane pump is known for its high-performance, and is used with other high-performing valves and controls. This forms the basis of the standard machine drive system, which has a reliable, industrial “open-loop” design. The pumps and valves are mounted on an attached reservoir on the five-ton models, and on a standalone hydraulic reservoir for models larger than five tons.

Compact: The ram slide and table sub-assemblies are mounted on a rigid base weldment. The lower portion of this weldment serves as a coolant reservoir for the machine, which allows the unit to have a compact design that takes up a minimum of precious plant floor space.

All heavy-duty models in this series feature a pressurized, individual point lubrication system. Standard system features include low reservoir level indication, anti-start interlocking, and high-pressure indication for detecting an impaired normal flow condition.
