The VISCOFLUX lite drum emptying system

York Fluid Controls is proud to supply products by FLUX, which revolutionized liquid-pumping technology in 1950 with the first electric drum pump. The FLUX tradition of innovative fluid solutions continues with the VISCOFLUX lite drum emptying system, for transferring high-viscosity media that is capable only of flowing.

Used for pumping media from ISO drums with lids, this FLUX product transports media gently and continuously.

Part of the VISCOFLUX family

The VISCOFLUX lite drum emptying system is part of a family that includes the VISCOFLUX and VISCOFLUX mobile; these solutions leave less than one per cent residue of the media in any drum without inliner. Media examples include soft lubricating greases, machinery greases for central lubricating systems, levelling compounds, paint binders, and adhesives.

System components include the FLUX eccentric worm-drive pump with motor, a pump-centring plate, and a follower plate with a flexible process seal. The follower plate is put directly onto the media in the drum, with the centring plate fixed above it on the drum’s edge. The pump is routed through the opening of the centring plate and follower plate guide down to the drum bottom, and the worm-drive pump creates a vacuum that causes the follower plate to go down. The process seal on the follower plate ensures that almost zero material is left on the drum wall, and the transferred material is hermetically sealed inside. Following media transfer, the follower plate is released from the bottom with compressed air.

This drum emptying system from York Fluid Controls comes with many advantages. It is fast and easy to install, with few components, and its low installation height allows high flexibility. Unlike systems with piston pumps, this one offers continuous transport, with a gentleness that prevents structural change of media. By leaving minimal residue, this solution is an efficient, resource-saving use of the media, with low disposal expenditure. Other benefits include customized output, quick cleaning, process reliability, and simple extension.
