When it comes to selecting material-handling equipment, ergonomics is a factor that companies must consider. This is why Dobco Equipment offers a broad selection of pneumatic and mechanical spring balancers, which provide a safer, more comfortable way to lift materials of up to 2,000 pounds.

Dobco partners with two manufacturers for its balancers: Ingersoll Rand (IR), which produces Zimmerman-brand devices, and Knight. This includes refurbished balancers by both companies, each with a 90-day warranty.

Precise and strain-free positioning

The Zimmerman line of pneumatic balancers offers many best-in-class features for safe, ergonomic handling. Their precise, strain-free positioning leaves users’ hands free to raise, lower, or shift loads with virtually no resistance. They also provide easy access to airflow calibration controls, enabling simpler adjustment of the float. For safety, every balancer has built-in overload protection ensure the lifted load never exceeds the maximum capacity, and a centrifugal brake automatically halts upward cable travel if a load is lost accidentally.

Zimmerman InteLIFT balancers are intelligent lifting systems that convert intuitive operator input into smooth, easy vertical motion. They have force-sensing control handles that respond to operator input quickly for precise positioning of loads of up to 1,000 pounds, and speed is adjustable for specific applications. IR also produces nine series of mechanical spring balancers, which can lift up to 363 pounds from five to nine feet high and have a “gravity-free” effect that allows effortless movement.

Dobco also carries several models of balancers by Knight, a team of proven innovators in material-handling systems. Variations of these devices include single-cable, single-chain, dual-drum, reeved, tandem, and tandem-reeved. Knight balancers come with seven variations of pneumatic controls (in straight-hose and coiled-hose variations), as well as internal safety retract controls. The retract controls are designed to keep the cable from accelerating upwards if the balancer loses the load. The control is activated by unusually quick rotation of the chain/cable spool. External retract controls are also available as an option.

Balancer accessories available from Knight include I-Beam trolleys, top mount single hanger hook assemblies, dual-drum-balancer trolley adaptor assemblies, and balancer limit switch assemblies.
