HBM's T40B digital torque transducer

Durham Instruments is Canada’s go-to source for solutions by HBM Test and Measurement. For example, the T40B digital torque transducer offers digital torque measurement with nominal (rated) torques from 50 to 10,000 newton metres. Trusted for its precision, reproducibility, and robustness, this instrument is recommended especially for static and dynamic torque measurement. This is a cost-effective, high-performance torque flange that offers high precision and reproducible measurement results in test benches.

Maximum flexibility for measurement applications

The T40B digital torque transducer is a versatile instrument for power-train, aero, and engine testing in numerous industries. Durham Instruments deems it suitable for some measurement tasks in general manufacturing, aerospace, automation, the military, power generation, and alternative energy.

This device offers high-temperature stability and 0.03 per cent accuracy in terms of linearity, including hysteresis. When combined with the integrated magnetic rotational-speed measuring system, the T40B enables power measurement in the drive train. The non-contact power supply and digital signal transmission result in fail-safe and maintenance-free operation, and the TIM-EC interface module for EtherCAT and TIM-PN for Profinet ensure top performance and flexibility when integrating torque and rotational speed signals with cutting-edge test-bench systems.

This digital torque transducer offers an HBM accuracy class of 0.05, high temperature stability, and high accuracy and stability due to its ratiometric method of measurement. The T40B’s innovative digital data transmission delivers reliable measurement information, even in difficult ambient conditions; error detection ensures interference-immune data transmission with no accuracy loss, and high vibration strength results in robustness.

A key advantage is maximum flexibility for current and future measurement applications. Among the benefits are analog and digital interfaces, for easy integration with different test-bench systems, and an optional reference pulse for acquiring the absolute rotor position. The T40B is especially potent for testing electrical machines when used with Genesis High Speed. With the reference pulse, users get data about the absolute rotor position, which is essential for analysis purposes.

As the first torque flange of its class to benefit from particularly secure digital data transfer between the rotor and stator, the T40B is an ideal solution.
