The T40B torque transducer

HBM Test and Measurement is renowned for its lineup of innovative solutions, available in Canada through Durham Instruments. This includes the T40B digital torque flange, trusted for top static and dynamic torque measurement. Users get digital measurement with nominal (rated) torques ranging from 50 to 10,000 newton metres. A cost-effective, high-performance torque transducer, the T40B satisfies with its high precision, robustness, and reproducible results in test benches.

High stability and accuracy

The T40B is a versatile device for power-train, aero, and engine testing, recommended for applications in a variety of industries. Durham Instruments deems it suitable for measurement tasks in general manufacturing, aerospace, automation, the military, power generation, and alternative energy.

Among the advantages of this digital torque flange are high-temperature stability and 0.03 per cent accuracy in terms of linearity, including hysteresis. The T40B enables power measurement in the drive train when it is combined with the integrated magnetic rotational-speed measuring system. Maintenance-free and fail-safe operation results from the non-contact power supply and digital signal transmission, and the TIM-EC interface module for EtherCAT and TIM-PN for Profinet create top performance and flexibility when integrating torque and rotational speed signals with world-class test-bench systems.

Due to the ratiometric measurement method, the T40B digital torque flange provides an HBM accuracy class of 0.05, high temperature stability, and high accuracy and stability. Its innovative digital data transmission delivers reliable measurement information, even in difficult ambient conditions. Error detection ensures transmission with no interference or loss in accuracy, and high vibration strength makes the device robust.

Users also get maximum flexibility for current and future measurement applications; analog and digital interfaces are available for easier integration with varying test-bench systems, plus an optional reference pulse for acquiring the absolute rotor position. The T40B torque transducer is especially potent for testing electrical machines when used with Genesis High Speed. The reference pulse helps users get information about the absolute rotor position, which is required for analysis.

Trust the T40B – the first transducer of its class to benefit from especially secure digital data transfer between rotor and stator.
