industrial light curtains

IBIS supplies six models of Dietz light curtains.

Many great sensing products by Dietz Sensortechnik are available through IBIS Electro-Products Corp. This lineup includes industrial light curtains – opto-electronic devices used for detecting objects for the discrimination of different forms or measurement purposes. These units are primarily used to halt moving machinery, in applications like non-contact presence detection, counting and verifying, packaging and material-handling equipment, and assembly tasks in automation, machinery, food processing, pharmaceuticals, and the automotive industry.

Six designs available from IBIS

Dietz light curtains work on the principle of through-beam sensors. Each device has a transmitter and receiver unit, with a compact infrared light with adjustable sensitivity. A variety of transmitter diodes emit infrared or laser light, depending on the type range, to the receiver unit, forming a close-knit light curtain. If the light is broken, the curtain instantly stops the automated machine.

These Dietz industrial light curtains are not to be confused with safety light curtains, which are specifically designed to safeguard personnel in the vicinity of moving machinery that could potentially injure workers.

Six designs of Dietz industrial light curtains are available from IBIS. All of them are black and have PNP digital sensor outputs, as well as a robust metal housing with an IP51 sealing level and M12 connector.  Their weights range from 500 grams to one kilogram; operating temperatures go from -10 to 50 degrees Celsius. The specifications:

  • 100 millimetres (mm), digital PNP-NO (normally open) output – Seventy-two scanning and nine direct light beams. Curtain active width from 0.2 to six metres (m). Detects objects sized at six mm. Maximum response time of 20 milliseconds (ms).
  • 100 mm, digital PNP-NC (normally closed) output.
  • 200 mm, digital PNP-NO – With 184 scanning and 16 direct light beams. Curtain active width from 0.2 to 7.5 m. Detects objects sixed at six mm. Maximum response time 25 ms.
  • 200 mm, digital PNP-NC.
  • 300 mm, digital PNP-NO – With 172 scanning and 24 direct light beams. Curtain active width from 0.2 to six m. Detects objects sized at eight mm. Maximum response time 26 ms.
  • 300 mm, digital PNP-NC.
