The EABS one-hand nutrunner by Desoutter

Dobco Equipment Ltd. makes innovative assembly equipment by Desoutter available to Canadian manufacturers. One relatively new example is the EABS battery powered nutrunner, which has been ergonomically designed for one-hand operation. This tool is perfect for aerospace and automotive tasks in which some joints and fasteners are hard to reach.

With its compact, 30-centimetre length, this Desoutter power tool boosts worker productivity by eliminating space constraints in these applications.

Balancing comfort with high productivity

What motivated the manufacturer to develop this battery powered nutrunner two years ago was the understanding that workers get frustrated when trying to manoeuvre power tools in cramped spaces. They often require one hand free to support themselves or to hold other components out of the way. As one example, this is a daily production issue during final assemblies of automobiles.

The EABS is the perfect solution for these applications. With its compactness, performance, accessibility, and flexibility, it also goes above and beyond other nutrunners on the market. This battery powered nutrunner from Dobco is 20-35 per cent more compact than competing nutrunners are, weighs a mere one kilogram, and offers 360-degree visibility feedback. This means that tightening fasteners of up to 24 Newton metres is quick and easy even in cramped conditions.

This nutrunner allows assembly workers to create a perfect balance between ergonomic comfort and high productivity. On an 18-volt battery, an EABS core model can function at higher than 1,000 revolutions per minute. Another advantage of this cordless tool – it can operate as part of a wireless network. With easy re-balancing, a user can pair it with a Desoutter CONNECT smart hub for tasks that need complete traceability. This pairing method is contactless and takes less than ten seconds.

This tool is also designed to eliminate all programming errors – like inaccurate IP-address assignment. This issue results in hours of unnecessary unplanned downtime to resolve on the network.
