protective pipeline coatings

Protal coatings work for several applications.

For 90 years, infrastructure has benefited from high corrosion-prevention and sealing technology by Denso North America, which offers an unmatched portfolio of solutions. The lineup includes the Protal series of protective pipeline coatings – a full range of quick-curing, high-build liquid epoxies for protection above or below the ground.

Protal liquid pipeline coatings can be easily applied by brush, roller, or spray, in environments with high or low temperatures, for unsurpassed anti-corrosion protection.

High adhesion and abrasion resistance

These protective pipeline coatings provide high-build protection, typically in an application of only one coat. Among the other major advantages of these products are high adhesion, excellent abrasion resistance, and outstanding cathodic disbondment results. The Denso team highly recommends these liquid coatings for the following uses and applications:

  • liquid coating to protect girth welds, tie-ins, and fittings from corrosion;
  • liquid coating of welds for boring applications;
  • repairs to FBE, fittings, and fabrication;
  • rehabilitation of existing pipelines; and
  • coating of cadweld areas.

A VOC-free, two-part epoxy coating, Protal 7200 is specifically designed for FBE-coated pipes. It is also recommended for onsite protection of girth welds, tie-ins, and welds for boring tasks, in addition to FBE repairs, push-rack applications, station piping, fittings, and fabrication. Denso also offers Protal 7125, which is built specially for rehabilitation of low-temperature, in-service operating pipelines, and it is also suitable for station piping, girth welds, tie-ins, push racks in laybarge applications, FBE-fitting repairs, and fabrication.

Two other protective pipeline coatings available in Canada from Denso are Protal 7900HT and Protal ST epoxy mastic. The former product is a high-temperature coating for pipelines that function at temperatures of up to 121 degrees Celsius, and it is also suitable for girth welds, pipes, fittings, calves, and fabrication. A surface-tolerant liquid coating, Protal ST epoxy mastic is used when steel grit blasting is out of the question. Workers can apply this epoxy mastic alone or with other topcoats for long-term exposure to water on structural steel, pipe externals, pipe racks, tanks, offshore platforms, locks, gates, or bridges.

Trust the Denso line for top sealing and anti-corrosion protection.
