Denso Tank Base Protection System seals gaps for corrosion prevention

A key source of anti-corrosion protection and sealing products, Denso North America offers the Tank Base Protection System: a powerful, proven solution designed to seal gaps to protect tank chimes and bases from water ingress and corrosion. Users apply this system in four simple steps with the assistance of Denso Densyl Mastic and FB 30 tape. The Tank Base Protection System is manufactured to comply with the strict API-653 standard for tank-chime inspection.

Years of damage protection

The Denso crew designs this product to protect tank bases from needless corrosion and water damage for years. The first step in the application of the Tank Base Protection System is to apply Densyl Mastic, for smooth transition between the tank base and concrete. Users should mould the compound into a round configuration and apply it around and in between the circumference of the concrete base and tank edge, to fill all voids and reduce any sharp edges.

Next, Denso Hi-Tack tape should be applied onto the concrete base, starting at a minimum of one inch. Users should apply this Denso tape circumferentially around the concrete and steel tank base. If an extra layer is necessary to cover an inch or more onto the steel tank base, the tape should be applied with an overlap of at least an inch on the initial Hi-Tack layer.

For the next step, Denso FB 30 tape should be applied, beginning at a minimum of one inch below the Hi-Tack tape and then circumferentially around the concrete and steel tank base. If necessary, apply a second layer with an overlap of at least one inch onto the first layer, to cover a minimum of one inch over the Hi-Tack tape onto the steel tank base. It is crucial to press out and adhere all overlaps and seams.

Last, mix Denso Weathershield 55 thoroughly for an even colour, and apply it with by brush as a topcoat for the FB 30.
