Denso supplies these products to be used in conjunction with petrolatum or wax tape systems, as self-supporting molding compounds for irregular surfaces, like flanges and couplings.

Denso’s sealing and molding products contain no volatile organic compounds and offer a smooth profile to minimally prepared surfaces. They cannot be affected by water, acid, or salt from the environment.

Multiple uses and applications

Denso recommends its sealing and molding products for multiple industrial uses and applications, including valves, flanges, flanged joints, couplings, nuts and bolts, and any irregularly shaped fitting. Among notable features are excellent sealing and molding properties, inertia and environmental stability, minimal need for surface preparation, and flexibility. The company’s inventory of sealing and molding items can be classified into four categories, as follows:

• Denso Profiling Mastic. This petrolatum molding mastic is a cold-applied, self-supporting compound that is ideal for creating smooth profiles on flanged joints and valves. Capable of adhering to concrete, this profiling mastic is used before the application of Denso petrolatum or bituminous tape.
• Densyl Mastic. Also used in conjunction with Denso petrolatum or bituminous tape, this molding and filler mastic is designed to contour flanges, couplings, valves, and irregular surfaces. It has also been used to protect tank bases from corrosion.
• Densyl Mastic Blankets. Preformed molding mastic, similar to Densyl Mastic, but in blanket form. Users apply these by hand easily, and they mold around irregular shapes to protect them from corrosion. Will adhere to concrete as well as metal and polyethylene.
• Denso Void Filler. An injectable petrolatum compound that users pump into voids between pipes, cables, ducts, and protective sleeves to keep water and air out. It also offers anti-corrosion protection on steel when pumped warm and allowed to set to a semi-solid paste; it can enhance adhesion and control flow as well. Denso can supply Void Filler in large quantities.
