injectable petrolatum compound

Void Filler is recommended for steel protection.

For top industrial anti-corrosion solutions, businesses are wise to rely on the selection available from Denso North America. One popular product is the Void Filler brand of injectable petrolatum compound. This solution is formulated specifically for hot injection into voids between pipes, cables, ducts, and protective sleeve to exclude air and water.

Typically pumped warm, Denso’s Void Filler sets to a semi-solid paste in order to provide corrosion protection for steel.

Ideal choice for steel protection

Void Filler is used to displace water, inhibit corrosion, enhance adhesion, and control flow, and Denso has based it entirely on petrolatum hydrocarbons with additives to fulfill these functions. This injectable petrolatum compound is non-hardening, has excellent flexibility, is easy to pump, and is unaffected by water, acids, and salts.

Applying Void Filler is a very straightforward process. The first step is to heat this injectable petrolatum compound up to a temperature between 80 and 120 degrees Celsius. Then, the user should pump it into the lowest point until it exits the highest point in a continuous stream at about 70 degrees Celsius. It is a good idea to fill all voids completely between strands and ducts to exclude all air and water, in order to achieve the highest long-term corrosion protection.

Among the other properties and specifications for Void Filler are the following:

  • Application temperature – 20 to 80 degrees Celsius.
  • Drop point (IP 132/ASTM D566) – 60 to 70 degrees Celsius.
  • Flash point – 180 degrees Celsius.
  • Maximum continuous operating temperature – 40 degrees Celsius.
  • Solids content – 100 per cent.
  • Specific gravity – 0.9 to 0.93 at 25 degrees Celsius; 0.89 at 80 degrees Celsius.
  • Unworked cone penetration – 120 to 160 dmm at 25 degrees Celsius; 70 to 90 dmm at zero degrees Celsius.
  • Worked cone penetration – 275 to 315 dmm at 25 degrees Celsius.

Void Filler is the ideal choice for steel protection in pipes and more. The Denso team can easily supply this product in large quantities, and it can penetrate and wet existing corrosion.
