Archco products are available from Denso.

The unmatched portfolio of corrosion-prevention products by Denso North America includes the Archco series of liquid pipeline topcoats. These coatings are designed to protect concrete and steel surfaces from aggressive work environments, and they set the standard for long-term corrosion prevention for pipelines in a wide spectrum of temperatures.

Easy to apply and quick to cure, Archco topcoats offer top resistance against chemicals, abrasion, cathodic disbondment, and extreme temperature.

Meeting stringent quality standards

Archco coatings have exceptional adhesion properties and cure under cool and damp climates, with fast dry and set times by airless or plural spray application. They meet the stringent quality standards for which Denso aims in all its solutions. The Archco line comprises fast-curing, high-build epoxies for different corrosion-prevention applications below or above ground. Most of them can be applied by hand, brush, or spray.

Three Archco acrylic coatings for pipelines are available in Canada – Archco 15, Archco 55, and Archco 220. Archco 15 is a one-component, high-build, flexible, water-based acrylic topcoat designed for application over Denso petrolatum tape, FB-30 tape, or glass outerwrap. This environmentally friendly topcoat is applicable by brush or spray and cures at temperatures as low as ten degrees Celsius. Users can apply it directly over completed tape-system installations.

Archco 55 is another one-part, high-build acrylic topcoat with excellent adhesion, built to cover Protal liquid coatings for colour coding and ultraviolet (UV) stability. It is applicable in conjunction with the Denso Tank Base Protection System as a topcoat for FB-30. Denso recommends Archco 55 for ponding water areas. Advantages include high impact, abrasion resistance, curability at low temperatures, and flexibility.

A fast-drying coating that goes over FBE, Archco 220 offers low VOCs, exhibits high UV stability, and provides five to ten years of UV protection, depending on the environment. Before application, the surface should be dry, above 4.4 degrees Celsius, and a minimum of ten degrees Celsius above the dew point. No abrasive blast cleaning is necessary, but all grease, oil, dust, dirt, and other contaminants should be removed. Applicable by brush, roller, or airless spray unit.
