Two decades of ISO 9001 certification demonstrates leading manufacturer’s commitment to quality

L. & M. Precision Products has been ISO 9001 certified for 20 years. This special anniversary demonstrates the company’s commitment to producing and providing consistent, good quality products and services, and is proof to its growing list of loyal customers that it continues to meet the requirements of a quality management system.

A quality promise

The Toronto-based manufacturer of precision-machined products has been committed to quality since it was founded more than 50 years ago. Its customers across Canada and the United States in a wide variety of sectors, including automotive, appliances, welding, medical, electrical, fittings and display, have come to expect superior quality from the company, a huge contributing factor to its continued success over the last five decades. But, more formally, L. & M. has been ISO registered since 1997, and is audited annually by ISO registrar PriceWaterHouseCoopers to ensure quality management systems are continuously compliant to the ISO quality standards. Its latest re-certification took place in June 2016.

“Customer satisfaction is the main goal,” the company explains. “No product will be shipped to the customers until the product quality conforms to the customer’s specifications with assurance. Management will assess the effectiveness of the quality management system on a regular basis, and direct internal efforts towards continual improvement.”

The quality assurance process

L. & M.’s quality assurance process starts before the job has begun, and isn’t complete until the customer receives the finished product. It’s a process that involves every employee in the company, from up-front estimation and engineering, through to production, shipping and delivery.

L. & M. Precision Products also has a fully equipped quality assurance department with a dedicated team of qualified professionals. This team regularly calibrates gauges and scales to ensure products are correctly sampled for quality purposes. In addition, the team conducts regular sampling before and during product runs to ensure specifications are met.
