A tapered cap in the Daemar T series.

Among the many types of essential components for industry that Daemar Inc. carries are tapered caps. Businesses use them to protect a broad range of tubing and threaded machined parts and ports from dust, moisture, and impact. They also provide masking protection in painting, plating, powder-coating, and anodizing applications.

Tapered caps are available in a wide variety of materials and designs, and the tapered construction allows one cap to fit different tasks and tolerances.

Safeguarding parts in rough environments

Equipment components are vulnerable to contamination and damage during manufacturing, transportation, and storage, so tapered caps safeguard them in these rough environments. Among the materials that go into these caps from Daemar: LDP, which is flexible, economical, and chemical-resistant; HDP, which provides high chemical resistance, but is not recommended for oil or grease; vinyl, which is durable, withstands high temperatures, and resists moisture and abrasion; PVC, which is flexible and tolerates high temperatures; silicone, which resists all extreme temperatures; and paper, which is highly flexible.

Daemar carries the following three series:

  • T series. Red caps made from highly pliable low-density polythene, which makes them fit snugly and easy to remove. Most recommended for MIL Std. and SAE tube and hydraulic fittings and for threaded external and internal NPT fittings. Also available in green FlexTemp, a flexible thermoplastic rubber for extreme temperatures. Can serve as plugs too. Service temperature range from -70 to 79 degrees Celsius, except for FlexTemp, which works for -18 to 148 degrees Celsius.
  • WW series. Yellow, low-density polythene caps that are popular in the aerospace sector and easy to install and remove. Designed with a wide, thick flange to prevent users mistakenly forcing them all the way through when using them as plugs. Available in 76 sizes.
  • WWX series. Yellow low-density polyethylene caps with an extra-wide flange that offers extended visibility. The dummy-proof design stops the mating components from being installed without the cap being removed first. The design is highly visible, making the units easy to install and remove. Can serve as caps or plugs, depending on the application. Seventeen sizes available.
