shim stock

Customers perform aligning applications with Daemar's line of shim stock.

Aligning products make up just one category of the essential components that Daemar Inc. supplies. These aligning items combine the quality and performance that design engineers require with the cost savings that protect the bottom line. An example is Daemar’s selection of shim stock – such as slotted shims, shim rolls and sheets, and plastic shim sheets. With these products, manufacturers accomplish aligning applications with unique needs.

Precision-rolled to ensure accuracy

One of these shim items, DMR slotted shims, is manufactured from 304 stainless steel. These shim stock units are available in kits that each hold ten or 20 shims of more than a dozen thicknesses, from 1/1000 to 1/8 of an inch. They are permanently etched with size and thickness information to simplify selection, and they have wide slots and extended tabs for versatility and easy installation. Each kit comes with a sturdy steel carrying case to assist organization, storage, and transport. Daemar also offers six kinds of slotted-shim replacement packs.

Daemar recommends its plastic shim sheets for applications in which corrosion is a possible hazard. These items are 20 inches long each, with widths from five to 20 inches and thicknesses from 0.0005 to 0.03 inches. Special slit widths are available on request. Also available are 51 kinds of plastic shim sheets and three sizes of assortment packs.

Shim stock rolls come in eight models and are conveniently packaged in easy opening boxes, which are labelled clearly for easy part identification and simple to store or transport. These rolls can easily be stamped, bored, cut, milled, sheared, or drilled for any application and are precision-rolled to ensure accuracy. Their widths range from six to 12 inches and thicknesses from 0.0005 to 0.032 inches. Materials include the following:

  • Aluminum – minimum content 99 per cent.
  • Annealed steel – heat-treatable high-carbon steel.
  • Blue-tempered – 1095 high carbon-spring steel.
  • Brass – cold-rolled to a ½ hard temper.
  • Copper – 110 alloy material.
  • Nickel – 200-grade annealed material.
  • Stainless steel – slightly magnetic due to cold rolling.
  • Steel – stiff and springy, and useful when hardness is required.
