Expansion is a big part of Daemar's history.

For close to 50 years, manufacturers and other businesses across the country have counted on Daemar Inc. for essential components for industry. A variety of major Canadian industries – including agriculture, construction, food processing, forestry, oil and gas, and even green energy – have trusted the distributor’s products for top performance. This reputation is the result of decades’ worth of growth and expansion, from a small distribution firm to a leading industrial supplier.

Ten years of disc springs

It all started on New Year’s Day in 1973. That day, a new distribution company called Cartec was founded in Oakville, Ont., west of Toronto. At the time, Cartec supplied only three product lines – Waldes retaining rings, Seeger metric rings, and Devan keysteel. Over the following seven years, though, the firm expanded its product lineup with Cleveland hardware, KMC stampings, Standard steel, and GACO oil seals.

1980 was a breakthrough year for Cartec. This was when the company launched a sales and warehouse facility in Edmonton to serve the west. Four years later, Cartec opened another branch in the Vancouver region and changed its name to Daemar – Distribution Engineered Marketing.

Daemar was appointed as the exclusive Canadian supplier for Kalrez and Rotor Clip in 1986, the year it also opened a sales and warehouse plant in Montreal. Over the next few years, the inventory of Daemar products increased even further when the company was chosen as the master distributor for Caplugs in Canada and added mechanical seals to its fluid-sealing lineup.

In 1996, the company launched its website, bringing Daemar components into the digital era. Four years later, Daemar opened its first American sales office and warehouse in Georgia, marking the launch of Daemar Inc. U.S.A. The company launched an online catalogue in 2010; two years later, it expanded its lineup further with disc springs. Daemar also doubled the sizes of its Edmonton warehouse and Montreal facility in 2007 and 2015 respectively.

Although Daemar’s headquarters is still based in Oakville, the company continues to expand as it maintains its international status as a leading provider of essential industrial components.
