The JC8000 rugged multi-axis joystick controller

Many innovative solutions by Curtiss-Wright are available in Canada through Durham Instruments. One of the manufacturer’s more recent developments is the unique JC8000 rugged multi-axis joystick controller – a device that has been designed for the most demanding operator-control applications in off-highway vehicles, tasks that rely on high strength, reliability, and handle functionality. The JC8000 comes with three different grip options (the HE, AMF, or MG) and a very robust design for arduous applications.

Compact size, superb proportional control

The JC8000 is available with one or two axis configurations, and it comes with a non-contact Hall Effect sensing system for maximum operational life. With its compact size, high lever strength, and superb proportional control, it is ideal for skid steer loaders and other physically demanding work conditions.

This multi-axis joystick also offers the following features:

  • analog or digital outputs (PWM or CANbus J1939);
  • “base-only” option, to enable fitting of custom grips;
  • centre detent for enhanced return-to-centre performance;
  • easy installation;
  • high proportional control;
  • interchangeability with Curtiss-Wright’s JC600 and JC6000 models;
  • IP66-level sealing above panel, depending on handle type;
  • minimal under-panel depth of 78 millimetres;
  • pivot-point position for minimal grip cable flex;
  • rating for five million cycles; and
  • variety of ergonomic handle designs.

In addition to these features, Curtiss-Wright has imbued high mechanical strength into this multi-axis joystick, as well as a reduction in angular deflection that minimizes wear on base-to-grip wiring, increasing the device’s overall reliability. Its Hall Effect sensor technology prevents contact wear and provides safety functionality through the dual outputs; users can set the outputs to positive or negative ramps or a combination of both. Curtiss-Wright plans to introduce new models with higher grip functionality, CANbus interfaces, and mechanical variation.

The JC8000 joystick controller is a diverse tool that works for many different sectors. Durham Instruments recommends it for use in general manufacturing, aerospace, automation, food processing, forestry, the medical field, the military, mining, packaging, power generation, alternative energy, transportation, and research and development. For the most challenging industrial environments and tasks, invest in joystick controllers by Curtiss-Wright.
