Corporate Social Responsibility

HARTING values ecological responsibility and more.

HARTING Canada remains the country’s premier supplier of connectors and other power-transmission solutions. Ever since its parent company was established in 1945, HARTING has made ethical conduct a top priority. It aligns its corporate goals with efficiency and sustainability, with high value on CSR, or Corporate Social Responsibility.

Strictly adhering to the vision “We want to create value for people,” HARTING’s dedication to ethical business practices is evident in all of its work.

Economic, social, and ecological consequences

About 5,000 HARTING employees worldwide bring these values to life every day. The company always considers the economic, technological, social, and ecological consequences of its corporate decisions and actions. Whenever possible, HARTING voluntarily contributes to the well-being and sustainable development of global society at every location. Among the universally accepted ethical values and principles that guide the corporation are honesty, integrity, and respect for human dignity.

To guide itself in Corporate Social Responsibility, HARTING takes inspiration from the international ISO 26000 standard, the Guideline on Social Responsibility. The company also has certified CSR management systems at four of its business branches: HARTING Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG, HARTING Electric GmbH & Co. KG, HARTING Electronics GmbH, and HARTING Stiftung & Co. KG.

The basis for HARTING’s CSR certification is the national standards ONR 192500 from Austria and RS 10 from Spain, which cover the core topics of ISO 26000 and define clear implementation requirements. This is because ISO 26000 is not directly certifiable as a guideline. HARTING also complies with the Code of Conduct of the German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association; based on ISO 26000, this code sets out the principles of socially responsible corporate management.

Evidence of HARTING’s devotion to Corporate Social Responsibility comes in its numerous awards. Examples include three consecutive CSR Commitment Awards with gold status from the EcoVadis rating agency, the 2017 Railsponsible CSR Award, and the 2015 Supplier Sustainability Award from Bombardier Transportation. The EcoVadis honours put HARTING in the top five per cent of CSR performers among manufacturers of electronic components.

Trust HARTING for great products and ethical business practices.
