Control your data with this handy device

Do you have control of your measurement data? Portable data recorders are one way for users to gain total control of measurement data — and it’s easy. 

The GEN3i High-Speed, Portable Data Recorder, from HBM and available through Durham Instruments, gives users access to all data handling functions with a single touch of a large, intuitive touchscreen. 

The GEN3i enables users to:

1. Zoom data: Do you want to closely scrutinize a specific section of your recorded data? The GEN3i gives you an expanded view of your data, in any scale you want. Simply mark an area of interest with your finger on the touchscreen to zoom in.

2. Acquire data: To begin recording, all you do is press the “start” button. To end, you simply press “stop”. It’s that easy.

3. Shift through data: You can shift through your data to inspect or find areas of interest by just touching the trace and dragging it in any direction you want to go.

4. Browse different datasets: To review multiple datasets, the necessary recording controls are easily accessible: Start/Stop and Next/Previous. You can also play back your data at multiple speeds in forward or reverse modes.

The GEN3i is ready to run immediately. Depending on the selected acquisition mode — continuous recording or triggered sweeps — data is either stored on disk directly (streaming to disk) or first buffered in high-speed RAM to offer transient recorder speed without any throughput limitations. 

The device also allows users to select the input module that fits their application from a choice of 21 modules. The GEN3i can hold one, two or three acquisition boards, which can be freely combined. Besides the basic isolated voltage inputs up to one kV, GEN3i can also be equipped with isolated strain gauge, accelerometer signal conditioners or ultra high-speed transient modules offering up to 100 MS/s.
