Two types of light-duty control-cable products are available: push-pull systems, which apply motion by compression in one direction and tension in the opposite direction; and pull-pull systems, which apply motion by tension, while spring actuation returns the control to the first position.

Aside from control-cable products, the aerospace sector relies on Bergen Lock Clad cables, used mainly for aircraft control. Lock Clad cable has aluminum tubes swaged over them to meet the stringent military specification MIL-DTL-87218. Among the advantages of this cable are dampened vibration, lower creep stretch, high thermal expansion coefficient, and a surface that offers better seals through pressure walls. Only two companies worldwide, including Bergen Cable, have received United States government approval for production and supply of Lock Clad cable. This is a significant sign of Bergen’s high level of credibility.

Bergen offers yet another product for the aerospace sector – its own line of Safety Cable. The Bergen Cable engineering team collaborated with the General Electric Aircraft Engine Group in the 1980s to develop this unique cable line. The main mission was to create an alternative to lock wire for securing loose fasteners, but Safety Cable offers other benefits, such as a higher level of safety, efficiency, and access to difficult areas.
