Screw conveyors are available from Continental.

For nearly 60 years, Continental Conveyor Ltd. has been designing and producing top material-handling systems for Canadian businesses. Among the company’s most popular offerings is a full line of screw conveyors for a wide range of bulk material applications, as well as accessories. These versatile systems move items vertically, horizontally, or on inclines. These conveyors can be extremely helpful as feeders, distributors, collectors, or mixers, depending on the individual models.

The two main designs available

Screw conveyors are available from Continental in two main designs: inclined and vertical. Inclined models can be used in the inclined plane, which provides an economical means of elevating and conveying at the same time when the space is sufficient. It is vital to note that the conveyor capacity decreases quickly as the inclination angle rises and that raising the conveyor speed is required as the inclination angle increases to stop items from falling back. A separate horizontal feeder conveyor is needed for accurate flow rates, as feeders are more effective than inclined conveyors are for measuring material flow.

Vertical screw conveyors provide an efficient, powerful way to elevate and distribute bulk material. These systems offer less of the difficulty that tends to come with other elevating systems because they have fewer moving parts. Vertical conveyors can move up to 6,000 cubic feet per hour with a 16-inch diameter unit as high as 75 feet, depending on drive arrangement and material weight. They also efficiently convey material from horizontal to vertical planes.

Because of their compact design, vertical screw conveyors achieve easy fits into restricted areas where other types of bulk-material-handling systems are not feasible. They can be equipped to heat or cool during conveying tasks, and covers and gaskets can make then weatherproof, dust-proof, and rodent-proof. These systems can be installed easily, and maintenance is minimal. Continental designs and manufactures them as per industry standards, so they are interchangeable with other major brands.

Many customers are unsure which screw conveyors suit their own requirements best. Continental engineers take the time to make specific recommendations according to the relevant applications.
