screw conveyor systems

Two types of screw conveyors are available.

For more than 55 years and counting, Continental Conveyor has designed and built the best conveyor equipment in Canada. Among its most popular products is a complete line of screw conveyor systems for a wide range of bulk material-handling applications, along with accessories. These versatile conveyors can move items horizontally, vertically, or on inclines; depending on the models themselves, they can be highly useful as feeders, distributors, collectors, or mixers.

Built according to industry standards

Continental offers screw conveyors in two main designs: inclined and vertical. Inclined screw conveyors can be used in the inclined plane, offering an economical means of elevating and conveying at the same time when sufficient space is available. It should be noted that the capacity of the unit decreases rapidly as the inclination angle rises and that raising the conveyor speed is required as the inclination angle increases to keep material from falling back. Feeders are more effective than inclined conveyors are for measuring material flow, so a separate horizontal feeder conveyor is recommended for accurate flow rates.

Vertical screw conveyor systems provide an efficient, effective way to elevate and distribute bulk materials. Since they have fewer moving parts, they offer fewer of the difficulties encountered with other elevating equipment. Vertical conveyors can convey up to 6,000 cubic feet per hour with a 16-inch-diameter unit as high as 75 feet, depending on material weight and drive arrangement. They also transfer material efficiently from horizontal to vertical planes.

With their compact design, vertical screw conveyors achieve easy fits into restricted areas where other types of bulk-material-handling systems do not work. They can be equipped to heat or cool during conveying applications, and covers and gaskets can make them weatherproof, dust-proof, and rodent-proof. Users can install these conveyors easily, and minimal maintenance is required. Continental designs and constructs them according to industry standards, making them interchangeable with equipment from other major manufacturers.

Since many businesses are unsure of the screw conveyor systems that meet their needs best, Continental engineers are able and willing to make specific recommendations based on the relevant applications.
