bucket elevator systems

Bucket elevators are available from Continental.

For close to six decades, Continental Conveyor Ltd. has served Canada as a top designer, producer, and distributor of industrial mechanical systems for handling bulk materials – such as bucket elevator systems, for instance. These bucket elevators come in continuous or centrifugal models, and they have earned a stellar reputation for their reliability and rugged construction. Each of these systems provides a very efficient, economical, and reliable means of elevating almost any loose bulk material, ranging in lump size from 300 mesh to five inches.

Wide variety of demanding applications

Customers should consider the size and type of material they plan to conveyor when deciding what kinds of bucket elevators they should purchase. For fine, free-flowing material that can be dug from the elevator boot, a centrifugal system is recommended. A properly sized bucket can handle small lumps, and the equipment discharges buckets through centrifugal force as they pass over the pulley or head sprocket. This design enables simpler loading and a lower feed point. It also uses fewer buckets than the continuous system does, and users can mount buckets on belts or chains.

Continuous bucket elevator systems are better for sluggish, aerated, or friable materials, or material with a high lump percentage. Continuously spaced buckets are mounted on one strand of chain or belt, moving at speeds lower than those of centrifugal units. A loading leg confines these models at the loading zone to stop material from spilling into the bottom of the boot, since the closely spaced buckets cannot efficiently dig material out of the boot.

Continental designs these buckets so that the fronts and extended sides form a chute as they pass around the sprocket or head pulley. Gravity allows material to flow gently out of the buckets and down the chute that the preceding buckets form, into the discharge spout.

All of these bucket elevator systems are quality equipment that can handle a wide variety of demanding applications over long operational lives. Continental Conveyor continues to master many great material-handling solutions like this one from its 57 years of experience.
