pumping package

John Brooks Company provided a pumping system that reduced maintenance and saved money.

John Brooks Company has achieved a long history of success stories with its broad inventory of pumps, valves, and more. One example was a customer that was seeking a waste pit pumping package when it was expanding its facility and required a new installation. The new pumps needed to be self-priming “high and dry” units for easy maintenance and cleaning. As always, John Brooks Company was up to the challenge and provided the perfect solution.

Reduced service and maintenance expense

The company needed a pumping package that could be cleaned easily in case of blockages; the new pumps also had to handle occasional feathers and solids. So John Brooks Company put its application expert to work on the project, examining consultants’ drawings and choosing appropriate pumps.

Since the request was for a duplex Gorman-Rupp package, the John Brooks Company team recommended the Super T-Series of self-priming centrifugal pumps with the Eradicator option installed. This series has a large volute design that enables automatic re-priming in a fully open system, with no need for suction or discharge check valves. The series can handle capacities of up to 214½ litres per second and heads of up to 45 metres. These pumps come in discharge sizes of three, four, six, eight, and ten inches; a Super size is also available.

The Eradicator system has an aggressive, self-cleaning wear plate that incorporates many notches and grooves, plus a patent-pending lacerating tooth to help break up stringy material and pass them through the pump without affecting performance or interrupting service. A special back cover has a patented lightweight inspection cover that users can remove easily to inspect the impeller. This design reduces clogging and downtime significantly.

The customer installed this pumping package, and the results included reduced service and maintenance expenses and an overall cost savings. With the Super T-Series, the company could achieve pump maintenance and inspections without pulling the pumps out of the wet well. While most submersible pumps work with expensive proprietary motors with long lead times, this series can use standard off-the-shelf motors.
