compressed air system

Bluespot Furniture has seen a 30 per cent reduction in energy costs with CompAir equipment.

A world leader in compressed-air equipment, CompAir has a long history of assisting companies with solutions. The company’s brand of compressed air system has led to a long line of success stories with clients.

One such success happened when Bluespot Furniture Limited – a furniture manufacturer based in Dewsbury, England – needed a compressed air system for its new, purpose-built facility. For the perfect solution, the company turned to the experts at CompAir.

Thirty per cent savings

Around the end of 2013, Bluespot decided that it needed a compressed air system for its new headquarters. Since its founding in 2001, the company had grown so rapidly that its operations had spread over four separate units, which had fragmented its compressed air system. Air-line systems had been added over time as demand for Bluespot’s commercial and residential furniture systems had increased production substantially.

With the new, larger facility, Bluespot had to plan out the layout of the workspace, including the compressed air system. Compressed air had always been an essential factor in the company’s production process, in such applications as panel cutting, edging, and drilling. But having its compressed-air system in so many parts was highly inefficient.

This is when CompAir entered the picture.

Bluespot elected to buy its new compressed-air equipment from a local CompAir distributor, which worked closely with the company to specify what would work best. This turned out to be two CompAir L37 fixed-speed compressors and an L37RS speed-regulated unit, which reduced the number of compressors from six separate units to an integrated group of three. This move cut the air pressure by 21 per cent.

The company established a new compressor house outside of the facility’s main production area, sized to suit Bluespot’s air requirements while meeting the demands of the company’s expected future development. The distributor even installed new aluminum pipework to reduce pressure losses.

Results? Bluespot is now saving more than 30 per cent in its energy expenses. Its compressed air system is helping to maximize productivity at every process stage. CompAir compressed-air equipment continues to do the same for clients around the globe.
