Denso ColorTape works all year long.

Denso North America knows that different anti-corrosion and sealing products are needed for different seasons. This is why the company offers a unique, colourized petrolatum tape called Denso ColorTape, designed specifically to handle extreme temperature variations as it protects underground pipes, as well as hoses and hydraulic fittings on road-salting trucks, loaders, plows, and other equipment. For long-term protection on pipes, flange, valves, and related surfaces, municipal fleet operations, heavy-equipment owners, and pipeline companies rely on this product.

Applicable in many temperatures

Grey in colour, Denso ColorTape is made with a stable pigmented petrolatum compound and built from a non-woven synthetic fabric carrier. This solution is recommended especially for above-ground applications in which appearance is a priority. Users can easily apply ColorTape in a broad variety of temperatures, ranging from deep winter freeze to sweltering summer heat of up to 60 degrees Celsius. Another benefit: this tape is unaffected by water, acid, salt, or soil organics.

ColorTape conforms to irregular profiles and shapes, and workers can apply it on marginally prepared surfaces and cold, wet surfaces. Primer is not necessary. This tape also resists alkalies and ultraviolet rays, encapsulates lead paint, contains no solvents, and is ready for service immediately following its application. Denso ColorTape also meets the strict standards of AWWA C217 and NACE RP0375-2006.

To apply this colourized petrolatum tape optimally, the first step is to remove all loose scale, rust, and other foreign matter from the surfaces. This must be completed according to SSPC SP2 “Hand Tool Cleaning” or SP3 “Power Tool Cleaning”, or with high-pressure water from 3,000 to 7,000 pounds per square inch. Then wrap the ColorTape spirally, with an overlap of a maximum of 2½ centimetres. Denso recommends 55 per cent overlap in severely corrosive environments. The user must press out all air pockets and smooth all lap seams during the wrapping stage. Densyl Mastic or Profiling Mastic may also be necessary for large irregular surfaces.

Available in 7½-metre rolls in various widths, Denso ColorTape is the ideal solution for year-round pipe, flange, and fitting protection.
