Clippard DR-2 precision regulators bring high accuracy, top repeatability

The DR-2 series of precision regulators by Clippard

Wainbee Limited supplies many industrial solutions by Clippard, ranging from proportional isolation valves to fittings and safety circuits. The lineup also includes various types of control valves, including the DR-2 series of precision regulators. Clippard invented the miniature regulator nearly 60 years ago, and its MAR series became very popular. But the DR-2 model maintains the same flow and performance characteristics as the MAR design while adding higher accuracy and repeatability.

Relieving and non-relieving models

The MAR line is renowned as a series of simple, robust, and cost-efficient regulators, each in a small package with a lengthy operational lifespan. Since regulator applications have broadened, Clippard stays up to date with newer control valves with flow, high performance, extreme precision, and accuracy in one durable, sleek package. Recommended for applications that require no air consumption (non-bleed), the DR-2 series offers repeatability of +/- 0.1 pounds per square inch (psi).

This series of precision regulators is available from Wainbee in relieving and non-relieving models. The relieving design maintains a constant pressure output, even when downstream conditions change, and non-relieving models do not compensate automatically for changes in downstream pressure or flow. Relieving regulators work with air, while non-relieving ones can handle water and oil too. The latter has no vent to atmosphere, and the output pressure can increase because of a downstream event. Non-relieving models can accommodate compatible liquid applications.

Clippard does not recommend the DR-2 series for applications that do not require dead-end no flow. Other specifications of these precision regulators:

• Adjustment: An extended 0.156-inch shaft accepts an adjustment knob or is furnished with an exposed screwdriver slot with micro-adjustment (56 pitch thread).
• Input pressure: maximum of 300 psig.
• Materials: electroless nickel-plated brass body, FKM seals, PFPE lube, and stainless steel adjustment screw and spring.
• Mounting: 5/16-24 thread, nuts, and lock washers furnished.
• Ports: #10-32.
• Set point sensitivity: 0.1 psi.
• Set point stability: 0.1 psi.
• Temperature range: from zero to 110 degrees Celsius.
