Certified pipe repair system adds 20 years of life to pipes

Pipe replacement is a costly and recurring issue for refineries, petrochemical plants, power plants, water utilities and other applications that have pipes designed for high pressure, temperature and chemical resistance. When the protections built into pipes erode over time, it results in cracks, holes, fractures and leaks that make pipe replacement necessary. 

Henkel has developed a solution to this common problem — a solution that took more than two years of research and testing to perfect. The Loctite Certified Composite Repair System is an all-in-one solution with materials for surface preparation, reinforcement and topcoat. It uses a composite material made of resin reinforced with fibres to seal and reinforce pipes, bends, tees, reducers and flanges, adding an extra layer of resistance against mechanical wear, chemical attack and corrosion.

The system, fully certified by DNV GL according to ISO/TS 24817, is accompanied by an exclusive software tool that uses a range of different parameters to calculate how the pipe repair can be most effectively executed. Henkel also offers a certified training program to ensure that the repair system is properly applied.

Since no interruption of operations is necessary to implement the solution (unlike pipe replacement), there are many savings to be had by utilizing the Loctite Composite Repair System, including time and equipment replacement cost.
