tubular and switch locks

Secure solutions for RV storage are available.

Among the unmatched variety of industrial security solutions from Capitol Industries Inc. are tubular and switch locks. These units are a boon to applications in several industries, such as elevator controls, automated tellers, and coin-operated machines. Another major area for this line of locks is storage compartments in recreational vehicles (RVs).

Factory-installed locks are not always effective in keeping valuables secure in RVs, so switching to a tubular cam lock may be necessary.

The trouble with CH751 keys

As RVs acquire more high-end gadgets, break-ins have increased. Some RV owners may not realize that the majority of these vehicles – about 60 per cent – use the exact same key for the storage compartments: the CH751. Manufacturers save a lot of time and money by making a standard lock for every vehicle, since they do not have to come up with multiple door combinations. Another reason is so that RV salespeople do not have to walk around carrying big key sets.

But this is a serious disadvantage to security, since anyone with a simple CH751 key can get easy access to many RV storage compartments. Capitol can help RV owners to overcome this issue with its lines of tubular and switch locks.

It is easier and simpler to replace a storage-compartment lock than to re-key the existing lock. Tubular and switch locks are far more secure than standard locks, as they each have a unique combination that cannot be duplicated by other keys. Capitol manufactures tubular cam locks that are keyed alike or different to more than 60,000 key codes, with barrel lengths ranging from 11 to 30 millimetres, cam insets and offsets from -½ to ½ an inch, and cam lengths from ¾ to 2-3/8 inches.

Capitol offers tubular locks in a switch-lock format with a broad variety of electrical functions, as well as single-pole switch locks with a tubular design and a wealth of switch functions and terminal options. Switch locks are available with solder, spade, or screw terminals. All of these locks are easy to use and to install.

For a more secure RV, trust Capitol Industries.
