The HBM QuantumX MX471C CANbus FD module

Durham Instruments is Canada’s source for top industrial devices by HBM Test and Measurement – such as the HBM QuantumX MX471C CANbus FD module. This unit allows integration of up to four CANbus networks at the same time into the QuantumX data-acquisition system, and this can be expanded as required. The QuantumX MX471C is especially suitable for mobile vehicle tests and as a measurement gateway in test benches when combined with analog measurement modules.

Four individually configurable channels

This FD module includes a powerful Gateway Mode that enables transmission of as many as 200 analog or digital input signals to the test bench control system or any data recorder, allowing users to integrate these instruments as standalone systems. One can split up and reassemble messages as needed to set up a CAN-2-CAN gateway.

A user can acquire any amount of signals simultaneously (for example, vehicle speed, steering-wheel position, or brake command) with the analog CANbus inputs and use them to trigger data storage or analysis, simply by putting the channel in Recorder Mode. All acquired signals, even EtherCAT, can be output in real time.

Operators have one device for sending or receiving data and changing data type and compilation with the QuantumX MX471C. The FC module is capable of data transfer rates as high as four megabits per second and signal reception and transmission with high data throughput. The unit is compatible with CAN 2.0 A/B, CCP, xCP-on-CAN, and J1939; linking is simple through Ethernet or FireWire. With many supported protocols, flexible integration into various networks is possible.

Universal use is another benefit, with four individually configurable, electrically isolated channels and a wide range of accessories. The module is ideal for measurement with multiple CANbus systems and provides packet generation and transmission of analog inputs through CAN messages. Bus signals can be recorded synchronously with optimal integration into the QuantumX family.

In addition to the MX471C, Durham Instruments’ inventory offers another variation of the device: the MX471B – Classical CAN, a module that offers a data rage of up to one megabit per second.
