Continental Conveyor carries bucket elevators.

Continental Conveyor Ltd. has served Canadian industry for close to 60 years as a major designer, manufacturer, and supplier of industrial mechanical systems for handling bulk material. A key example is bucket elevators. With a widespread reputation for their rugged construction and reliability, these systems come in continuous or centrifugal models.

Users get a very efficient, economical, and reliable way of elevating almost any loose bulk material, going from 300 mesh to five inches in lump size, with each of these bucket elevators.

Simpler loading, lower feed point

Before deciding on what kind of bucket elevator to buy, the customer should take into consideration the type and size of material that will be conveyed. A centrifugal system from Continental is recommended for fine, free-flowing materials that can be dug from the elevator boot. A properly sized bucket can handle small lumps, and the equipment discharges buckets through centrifugal force as they pass over the pulley or head sprocket. This design allows for simpler loading and a lower feed point. It also uses fewer buckets than the continuous system does, and buckets can be mounted on chains or belts.

For sluggish, aerated, or friable material, or materials with a high lump percentage, continuous bucket elevators are better. Continuously spaced buckets are mounted on one strand of belt or chain, moving at speeds lower than those of centrifugal units. A loading leg confines these models at the loading zone to prevent materials from spilling into the bottom of the boot, as the closely spaced buckets cannot dig material out of the boot efficiently.

The buckets are designed so that the fronts and extended sides form a chute as they pass around the sprocket or head pulley. Gravity allows materials to flow gently out of the buckets and down the chute that the preceding buckets form, into the discharge spout.

All of these bucket elevators are quality machines that can handle a broad range of challenging applications over long operational lifespans. Continental continues to master many great material-handling solutions like this one after nearly six decades of operations.
