bucket elevators

Continental's bucket elevators are the most efficient and reliable way to elevate loose bulk materials.

Continental Conveyor remains a Canadian leader in designing, engineering, and manufacturing mechanical systems for handling bulk materials. Among its main products are industrial bucket elevators. Available in centrifugal or continuous models, these units provide a highly efficient, economical, and reliable way to elevate almost any loose bulk material ranging from 300 mesh to five inches in lump size. They have earned a solid reputation for reliability and rugged construction.

Benefits of the different designs

The type and size of the material determines which type of bucket elevator a business should use. Of the two types, centrifugal bucket elevators are recommended for handling fine, free-flowing materials that can be dug from the elevator boot. With the properly sized bucket, users can handle small lumps. Centrifugal force is used to discharge buckets as they pass over the head sprocket or pulley, and this design enables a lower feed point and simpler loading; it also uses fewer buckets than continuous models do, and the buckets can be mounted on a chain or belt.

Continuous bucket elevators are ideal for sluggish, aerated, or friable material, as well as material with a large percentage of lumps. The user mounts continuously spaced buckets on a single strand of chain or belt, travelling at lower speeds than centrifugal units do. These models are confined at the loading zone by a loading leg, to keep material from spilling into the bottom of the boot, since the closely spaced buckets cannot dig material efficiently out of the boot. Continental designs these buckets so that the fronts and extended sides form a chute as they pass around the head pulley or sprocket. The material relies on gravity to flow gently out of the buckets and down the chute formed by the preceding buckets into the discharge spout.

Each bucket elevator by Continental is a quality piece of equipment that can handle a broad variety of challenging applications over a long service life. This is just one of the many great conveyor products that the company has mastered over 50 years of experience in this field.
