The Type 2250-S handheld analyzer by Brüel & Kjӕr

Durham Instruments brings some of the world’s top measuring devices to Canadian businesses. One example is the Type 2250-S handheld analyzer by Brüel & Kjӕr. This is a Class 1 sound-level meter (SLM) that comes with a microphone, a preamplifier, and basic applications to help workers perform environmental, occupational, and industrial measurement applications with utmost accuracy. This unit is rugged enough for the field, but exact enough for labs.

Meets the latest international standards

Users can expand the Type 2250-S with specialized applications, including acoustic building, FFT analysis, tone assessment, and noise and vibration. Its general-purpose Class 1 sound measurements meet the latest international standards. Other common uses for this handheld analyzer include the following:

  • Noise assessments for occupational health and safety;
  • Environmental noise assessment and logging;
  • Product development;
  • Quality control;
  • Building loudness and noise-rating measurements; and
  • Infrasound (G-weighting) measurements according to ISO 7196:1995 and ANSI S1.42-2001 (R2011).

The basic applications package for this SLM includes software for sound-level measurement, frequency analysis, tone assessment, and noise monitoring. The instrument has a built-in flexibility that enables users to add applications and other hardware for additional applications, like reverberation time and low-frequency analysis, even to sound power and intensity and noise-source identification.

Customers can also use the Type 2250-S as a vibration meter by adding Enhanced Vibration and Low Frequency Option BZ-7234, along with a suitable accelerometer. This way, one can do quality testing and inspection, machinery analysis and troubleshooting, building vibration measurements, low-frequency building vibration measurements according to ISO 8041:2005 and DIN standards, and machine-health analysis following maintenance, repair, or overhaul.
