Bergen Cable Technology has extensive experience supporting the aerospace industry. The manufacturer offers a range of cable and mechanical cable assemblies that are used for everything from aircraft flight control to securing fasteners in aircraft engines.

Aircraft control cable

Aircraft control cable is one of Bergen Cable Technology's areas of expertise. Reliability is of the utmost importance for these applications, as any type of failure would be critical. The company can offer a variety of cables and assemblies that offer the lightweight, strength, flexibility and fatigue resistance required for aircraft control applications.

Bergen also offers a specialized type of control cable called lockclad. Lockclad consists of an aircraft cable that meets military specification MIL-DTL83420 and has an aluminum tube swaged over it. This design offers a number of benefits, including dampened vibration, lower creep stretch, high thermal expansion coefficient, and a smooth surface for better seals through pressure walls.

Safety Cable

Safety Cable was developed in 1987 by Bergen engineers working with General Electric's Aircraft Engine Group. Their goal was to provide a better alternative to lockwire for securing loose fasteners on aircraft. There's no question that they succeeded. Safety Cable offers fast and easy installation, and cuts manufacturing and repair times in half when compared to lockwire. It is now the fastener retention system of choice for some of the biggest names in aerospace, such as NASA, Boeing, Rolls Royce, Woodward Governor, and Pratt and Whitney.

More information

Although these solutions were designed with the aerospace industry in mind, they are often used for non-aircraft applications due to their reliability and well-defined manufacturing specifications. The company regularly serves customers in the transportation, marine, medical, military and business equipment industries.
