Varying levels of strength, resistance
Because different applications require varying levels of strength and abrasion or corrosion resistance, the Bergen team offers cable assemblies with products constructed out of different material. The latter is perfect for applications that require high strength, but in which corrosion resistance is not as important. Less expensive than stainless steel, galvanized carbon steel has a zinc coating that protects it from corrosive elements.
Bergen recommends stainless steel cable for tasks that justify the higher cost and in which corrosion is a significant factor. Type 302 stainless steel is most frequently used; it is 18 per cent chromium and eight per cent nickel alloy. This is a popular type due to its high strength and corrosion resistance. For non-magnetic properties, Bergen recommends Type 305 stainless steel.
