belt curves

Flow-Turn belt curves and spiral turns are available from Norpak Handling.

Complex material-handling systems often require belted turns in order to convey products that do not handle well on conventional live roller curves. Flat belt curves and spiral incline or decline turns can move these products where required within a system. Additionally, these flat belt and spiral turns are able to run at substantially higher speeds than live roller curves. Norpak Handling as a leading Conveyor System Integrator knows this, and that is why it partners with manufacturers that supply these items.

One of these supplier partners is Flow-Turn, a global designer and producer of belt curves, inclines, and declines based in Union, NJ. For more than 40 years, Flow-Turn has cultivated a reputation for products that are simple, efficient, and dependable.

Five types of belt curves

Formerly known as PSC Floturn, the company specialized in belted curve conveyors when it moved to its Union location in 1989. Today, Flow-Turn engineers and manufactures its products in-house, with up-to-the-minute technology.

Flow-Turn supplies five types of belt curves, available in Canada from Norpak Handling:

  • Chain-Turn. Uses heavy-duty loose-belt technology, with belt widths ranging up to ten feet. Capable of speeds of up to 600 feet per minute (FPM). Ideal for applications in airports, clothing factories, distribution centres, food processing, parcels, and general manufacturing.
  • Flat-Turn. Capable of transporting both large and small items, at speeds of up to 550 FPM. A variety of belt widths are available, up to four feet. Recommended for applications in airports, clothing factories, distribution centres, food processing, parcels, and general manufacturing.
  • Square-Turn. Can transport large and small objects at speeds of up to 600 FPM. Belt widths range up to 62 inches. Ideal for applications in airports, clothing factories, distribution centres, food processing, parcels, and general manufacturing.
  • Spiral-Turn. Spiral-Turn curves can easily be created out of Chain-, Flat-, and Square-Turn products, with elevation ranges from two feet per 90 degrees. Various speeds of up to 600 FPM; belt widths of up to ten feet. Recommended for airports, clothing factories, distribution centres, food processing, parcels, and general manufacturing.
  • Knife Roll-Turn. Offers smooth operation with its endless-belt construction and heavy-duty loose-belt technology. Speeds of up to 250 FPM; belt widths of up to ten feet. Recommended for small products, as well as applications in food processing.
