belt conveyor idlers

Continental components include belt conveyor idlers.

Continental Conveyor has served industry for more than 55 years with high-end material-handling equipment. The company’s portfolio includes conveyors, feeders, and bucket elevators, as well as conveyor components. The last category includes two lines of belt conveyor idlers, designed to facilitate continuous operation while handling high capacities and heavy abrasive materials. Continental makes two series of these idlers – Series 25000, available in three designs, and Series 30000, with a broad range of designs and belt widths from 45 to 152 centimetres.

Ideal for heavy materials

Series 30000 belt conveyor idlers are ideal for heavy materials with which the belt width limits the lump size. Variations of this series include flat belt carrying rubber cushion, picking roll, training idlers, and variable troughing idlers, plus return belt idlers in rubber tread, beater, and training types. Continental offers these idlers with end rolls that can furnish them while inclined at 20-, 35-, or 45-degree angles, depending on material volume, and the company fits rolls of five or six inches with precision ball bearings. Also available are a separate cartridge-type contact and labyrinth grease seal that offer triple bearing protection with neoprene contact members and grease-filled clearances.

Each of the belt conveyor idlers in Series 30000 has a counterbored outer shell and stamped end disc that are swaged to perfect concentricity and welded continuously to create an airtight concentric unit. Before assembling the idler, the Continental team fills the stamping cavity with grease, and the large diameter of the idler allows the grease to move to the bearings easily. This grease reservoir results in a long operational lifespan for the idler.

These idlers also have through shafts, each measuring two centimetres in diameter, that have been machined at both ends. The bearings are factory-adjusted by press-fitting the cartridge seals and bearings into the roll end discs. Other major features of these products:

  • heavy gauge steel rolls that are verified for smooth running;
  • non-jamming end brackets for supporting heavy loads;
  • self-cleaning inverted angle cross members; and
  • non-clogging centre brackets that are die-formed to close tolerances.
