John Brooks Company provided another great solution for a customer.

With a vast history of customer success stories, John Brooks Company Limited keeps on satisfying businesses with top fluid-control solutions. For example, an auto-parts producer in Southern Ontario needed a new series of air-operated double-diaphragm (AODD) pumps for lube, oil, and waste pumping and other applications. By recommending two models of Wilden Pro Flo pumps, John Brooks Company helped this customer improve operational efficiency while lowering its energy and replacement expenses.

Greater flow, less air consumption

The issue with the existing cast iron pumps was their nitrile rubber parts, which could not handle the wear and tear of these applications. So the auto-parts producer had to repair the pumps frequently, which slowed down production while increasing maintenance costs. The company needed pumps that could withstand the workload and would not require replacement as often.

The customer contacted an expert with John Brooks Company, who investigated the situation and suggested two Wilden Pro Flo AODD options: the one-inch P2 and the two-inch Shift PS8, both with a thermoplastic wetted package and Wil-Flex Elastomers EZ-Install diaphragms. The technology and construction of these pumps ensured longer operational lives.

A trial of these pumps proved them to have significant advantages over the previous units. Among these: optimization of air consumption, with no overfilling of air chambers or reduction of flow rates; better handling of abrasion and broader swing of pH levels; lighter aluminum construction material, easing physical strain on maintenance workers; less air required for operation; fewer components to repair; and reduced downtime overall.

The P2 model offers a maximum flow rate of 171 litres per minute (lpm) and a maximum solids size of 3.2 millimetres (mm). Other benefits include clamped connections for quicker maintenance, simple installation, and low cost. The Shift PS8 unit has a maximum flow rate of 719 lpm and a maximum solids size of 6.4 mm, plus all of the same benefits that the P2 pump has. It also offers energy efficiency, greater flow, and less air consumption and power use.
