Continental apron feeders have three main features.

Continental Conveyor Ltd. offers a lot of material-handling options to choose from for customers across the Canadian industrial landscape, like conveyors, stackers, and feeders. The company makes these systems, plus such components as idlers, pulleys, and covers. Another solution available is apron feeders, which are built for challenging work environments.

Designed specially for harsh conditions, Continental apron feeders are rugged products typically used for feeding and conveying heavy, lumpy, or abrasive material.

The three primary features

These apron feeders all have a robust design that equips them to deal with demanding work applications that could damage other kinds of feeders. Each one has three primary features – chains and rollers, sprockets and traction wheels, and cast manganese or fabrication pans. Every apron feeder includes a long series of overlapping pans mounted on strands of chain, tensioned and driven by head or tail terminals that intermediate rollers support. Continental mounts the components on a rigged structural frame, which allows the apron feeder to function properly in extremely harsh environments.

The Continental crew always designs its apron feeders to comply with the precise requirements of any individual task. This team of experts takes its time to evaluate starting conditions, the traits of the conveyed material, the hopper configuration, and the loading and operating cycles. This allows the company to determine the appropriate design of the pans, choose the right chain size, and pick the right kind of drive to suit the application. Continental has more than enough experience in handling a wide range of material to understand what starting conditions and needs to focus on, to make the right feeder design each time.

To determine the optimal blend of pan speed, pan configuration, and material bed depth in all conveying tasks, Continental carefully considers three factors – material abrasiveness, temperature, and particle size. This results to minimal leaks and long component lifespans. The process involves both custom-designed and standard apron feeders.

From hot, abrasive, or otherwise difficult materials to handling extreme impacts from large, sharp lumps loaded from distances, these apron feeders always get the job done.
