hosing solutions

Hose Master metal hoses have a few uses in the food and beverage industry.

Sudbury International Engineered Products Limited is a proud supplier of Hose Master hosing solutions for many industries. Although the manufacturer’s metal hoses are generally not designed for transfer of food-grade material, businesses in the food-processing sector can still get considerable benefits from these units elsewhere in the production process.

The three main areas in food processing in which metal hoses from Sudbury International can serve are clean-in-place (CIP) systems, steam transfer, and gas-appliance connectors.

Cleaning piping internal surfaces

CIP systems offer a means of cleaning and sanitizing internal surfaces of piping systems. They use steam and chemicals like sodium hydroxide to clean piping, which can be hard on non-metal hosing solutions. Users can remove non-metal hoses for separate cleaning while installing metal hoses in their place. Hose Master metal hoses are more suitable for the high heat and caustic cleaning solutions running through the system than non-metal hosing is.

Hose Master makes jacketed hoses that are ideal for transferring food if the media is viscous or prone to clogging the lines. These jacketed hosing solutions each have two parts: an internal hose that conveys primary media, and an external channel that conveys the secondary media used to raise or lower the primary media’s temperature. In food processing, steam is a typical secondary media. Jacketed hoses can transfer food products that otherwise would be too thick to flow freely or may harden inside the hose, resulting in clogging. The steam transferred through the external hose heats the primary media, which makes it less viscous and easier to flow through the pipes.

While corrugated metal hoses are generally not recommended for transferring food-grade material, using Hose Master jacketed hoses from Sudbury International is acceptable in this application if the product will be further processed or pasteurized down the line, eliminating all bacteria.

Gas-appliance connectors are commonly used to connect gas lines to stoves, grills, and other gas-fuelled appliances in restaurants and commercial kitchens. In this application, metal hoses serve as rugged, fire-safe solutions. The hoses are cycled frequently when the appliances are moved for daily cleaning.
