Among its many services, Matritech offers aluminum-extrusion transformation.

Since 1989, Matritech has continued to be a leading manufacturer of components for road and railway transportation in Canada. Its satisfied clients include Bombardier and CVTech-IBC, and its products are also essential for lighting systems, buildings, medical devices, HVAC equipment, and energy systems.

The company also provides a number of valuable services for customers, including laser cutting, stamping, assembly, coating, and robotic bending and welding. All of these put together, Matritech is truly a one-stop shop for manufacturing-related goods and services.

Extruding aluminum

In early 2016, Matritech added aluminum-extrusion transformation to its wealth of client services, due to popular demand. Aluminum remains a material high in demand in manufacturing, due to its malleability, which makes it easy to cast into new shapes, and its strength and stability when combined with other materials.

Aluminum extrusion is a technique for turning aluminum alloy into objects with cross-sectional profiles. The process involves heating a billet of aluminum alloy, then transferring it to a loader and forcing it through a die into a container. The extruded part of the alloy is cooled off and then straightened and hardened. The extrusions are cut to required lengths and then heated in ovens, to harden them by speeding the aging process.

Hiring Matritech to perform aluminum-extrusion transformation has some competitive advantages. The company can create finished products efficiently by applying a wide range of services in one facility, in addition to extrusion. Matritech uses standard machining processes and its own transformation options – like rapid punching, bending, forming, welding, or assembly – to achieve different production runs, from high-volume to short runs.
