Marc Brand hosts the Brand's Brands series.

Canadian businesses have access to a wide selection of test and measurement solutions, by various major manufacturers, from Alpha Controls & Instrumentation Inc. One way that the supplier promotes its products and services is through its YouTube channel, which features not only products and brands they carry, but also tips and tricks, how-to’s, recommendations on selecting the best products for your application and so much more.

The channel includes a playlist called Brand’s Brands, a series of videos offering plenty of educational resources and hosted by Alpha’s very own industry expert, Marc Brand.

Expert insights and product highlights

Launched in September 2021, the Brand’s Brands series offers expert insights, product highlights, and industry news from a leading provider of instrumentation and calibration. Among the topics that the Alpha Controls team explores in this video playlist:

  • Active air samplers. Focus on the MiniCapt mobile microbial air sampler from Particle Measuring Systems, which has multiple sampling applications, like monitoring compressed gas and remote isolator sampling.
  • Selecting the right validation-service provider. The four key decision criteria for choosing the appropriate provider for a business.
  • Room pressure monitors. The three most popular Setra Systems room pressure monitors, which are notably reliable and accurate and trusted in advanced pharmaceutical facilities, hospitals, and universities.
  • Exploring the triple point of water. The triple point is used in the fixed-point calibration in primary temperature standards and arguably the most important point in the ITS-90 scale.
  • Comparing optical and amperometric dissolved oxygen sensors. Customers learn which technology is appropriate for which scenarios.
  • Mass flow versus volumetric flow. The difference between these flow types, plus ways to measure flow, specifically thermal and differential pressure-based technologies.
  • How to choose the right calibration provider. Advice on picking a service provider that saves time, gives peace of mind, avoids delays, and offers accurate, precise measurements.
  • How to measure flow inside pipes. Two different techniques used in ultrasonic flow measurement, so users do not have to cut pipes to install flow meters.
