The Acuity AR2000 Laser Distance Meter, available in Canada from Durham Instruments.

Durham Instruments’ enormous line of test and measurement devices includes laser sensors produced by Acuity. This includes the manufacturer’s potent AR2000 Laser Distance Meter, built specifically for highly accurate distance measurement. This laser distance sensor is so powerful that it can measure distances as far as 500 metres, accurate within only one millimetre.

The AR2000 laser distance sensor is advanced enough to operate even on hot surfaces and in bright light.

A wide range of applications

With its unique specialized design, the AR2000 is perfect for distance measurement on glowing steel and similar red-hot surfaces, as well as in outdoor conditions with high constant or stray sunlight levels. Measurement targets can include virtually any natural surface, including liquids or reflectors. This makes this instrument suitable for various applications, like the following:

  • non-contact distance measurement and tracking;
  • steel-working industry and rolling mills;
  • positioning for transportation, handling, and conveying systems;
  • measurement of filling levels, object thickness, and length; and
  • industrial automation and process control.

The AR2000’s high versatility makes it suitable for use in many industries. Durham Instruments recommends it for general manufacturing, aerospace, food processing, forestry, education, the medical field, the military, mining, packaging, power generation, alternative energy, transportation, and research and development.

The range of this laser distance sensor provides not only high accuracy, but also a measurement frequency of up to 100 Hertz. It is equipped with an OLED display and four touch keys for convenient data display and parameterization, and its standard interface optimizes it for easy integration into automation and measurement systems.

Other notable advantages of using the AR2000 include a red, Class 2 visible measuring laser beam and a digital and analog data output with trigger functionality. The instrument can handle operating temperatures from -40 to 60 degrees Celsius and non-condensing humidity from 15 to 90 per cent. Its laser specifications include a wavelength of 635 nanometres and a divergence of less than 0.35 milliradians.

With the Acuity AR2000 Laser Distance Meter, industrial measurement has reached a whole new level of accuracy, range, and application.
