Durham Instruments supplies Acuity's AR200 series of laser measurement sensors.
Acuity’s measurement sensors are available in Canada through Durham Instruments. Among the manufacturer’s standard devices is the AR200 series of laser measurement sensors. The most compact triangulating laser sensors available from Acuity, the AR200 group consists of five models covering metric measurement ranges from six to 100 millimetres (mm).
The AR200 is the only sensor of its kind with pushbutton selection of Analog, Limit Switch, and Serial output signals on standard models.
Resolution of 0.03 per cent
These Acuity laser sensors are designed to handle challenging environments, making them perfect for such applications as water fabrication, automobile brakes, laser calipers, steel strip mills, and postal automation. They are a popular choice in forest products, the medical field, and high-technology sectors. Durham Instruments recommends them for other industries, like general manufacturing, aerospace, automation, food processing, education, the military, mining, packaging, power generation, alternative energy, transportation, and research and development.
Each AR200 device aims a Class 2 visible laser spot onto a target to gauge its distance accurately. In addition, users can program them with serial commands through a PC computer. All five models – the AR200-6M, AR200-12M, AR200-25M, AR200-50M, and AR200-100M – achieve a resolution of 0.03 per cent across their entire measurement spans. Each model has a range in mm that matches the model number. The AR200-50M, for example, can measure 50 mm to within 15 micrometres.
Acuity offers additional options for the AR200 laser sensors. These include: a connectivity kit with terminal blocks, serial cable, and power supply; cables with optional lengths and polyurethane jackets; a software library; and a touch-panel display that can monitor up to two sensors for thickness measurements, with an RS485 output.
