Durham Instruments supplies TE Connectivity's accelerometers in Canada.

When Canadian employers need to find the best measuring instruments for their work, they turn to Durham Instruments. From DAQ systems and signal conditioners to accelerometers, transducers and more, this company is the nation’s top source for test and measurement tools.

Among the manufacturers that work with the company is TE Connectivity, known for its advanced connectivity and sensor solutions. This includes its line of state-of-the-art accelerometers, such as the Model 4020 and 4030, which are perfect for applications involving the measurement of gravitational acceleration.

Dual-axis or triaxial configuration

TE Connectivity’s Model 4020 and 4030 accelerometers are low-noise, signal-conditioned DC instruments that are packaged in a durable molded housing. The 4020 is a dual-axis configuration (i.e., X and Y axes), while the 4030 is a triaxial configuration. Both have a nominal bandwidth from zero to 200 Hertz and are available with a dynamic range of either plus/minus two or plus/minus six g.

The manufacturer recommends using these accelerometers for low-frequency vibration monitoring, tilt and inclination measurement, motion measurement, or structural monitoring. In addition, Durham Instruments deems the Model 4020 and 4030 to be suitable for applications in numerous industries, including general manufacturing, aerospace, automation, food processing, forestry, education, healthcare, the military, mining, packaging, power generation, alternative energy, transportation, and research and development.

Other notable features of these accelerometers include the following:

  • Capacitive silicon MEMS sensing element, which offers high resolution and long-term stability for critical measurement tasks;
  • Excitation voltage from five to 30 volts of direct current;
  • Environmental sealing;
  • Ability to operate in temperatures from -40 to 85 degrees Celsius;
  • Low pass filtered output; and
  • Integral #24 AWG cable.

The Model 4020 and 4030 are also self-test-enabled. An optional three-channel precision low-noise DC amplifier is an available accessory.

About the companies

Based in Aliso Viejo, CA, TE Connectivity is one of the world’s largest sensor companies, having provided engineering solutions for more than three decades.

Founded in 1977, Durham Instruments is a distributor of electronic quantitative measuring instruments, with headquarters in Pickering, Ont. and three other Canadian locations.
