Pegasus Glass treats every custom order with the same amount of care and consideration. The Cambridge, Ont.-based company will work with the customer every step of the process — from concept to prototype to production — to ensure the final product meets their exact needs.

One of the factors to consider when looking into custom glass tube and rod options is the end finish.

Tubing end finishes include:

  • Cut, ground and chamfered: Offered as small as a one-mm outside diameter, up to a 100-mm outside diameter. The face is ground flat and square to ensure parallelism for applications where tight tolerances are a necessity.
  • Saw cut: Offered as small as a one-mm outside diameter, up to a 100-mm outside diameter. This finish works well for simple sealing/mating surfaces or a frosted effect.
  • Flat bottom: Made as small as a four-mm outside diameter and as large as a 457-mm outside diameter.
  • Saw cut and chamfered: Offered as small as a one-mm outside diameter, up to a 100-mm outside diameter.
  • Saw cut and fire polished: Offered as small as a one-mm outside diameter, up to a 100-mm outside diameter. This end finish is ideal for most tight tolerance applications where sealing on the face is a necessity.
  • Thermal cut; thermal cut and fire polished; and thermal cut and chamfered: These three finishes offer an economical way to cut glass starting with a seven-mm inside diameter, going up to as large as 600 mm.

Drilling, grinding and glass to metal seals are also potential tubing end finishes.

Rod end finishes include saw cut; cut, ground and chamfered; and saw cut and fire polished. All of these options are offered as small as a one-mm outside diameter, up to a 44-mm outside diameter.
