drum sprockets

Tsubaki offers a line of drum sprockets.

Tsubaki of Canada is a one-stop shop for all premium chain and sprocket needs. For applications that require bulk material-handling assemblies, businesses are wise to turn to Tsubaki’s inventory of drum sprockets. Designed and constructed out of vast field experience and manufacturing knowledge, these sprockets deliver top results.

Whatever design, hub style, or construction type a customer needs, Tsubaki can lead the way to the most suitable drum sprocket.

The standard for most applications

Full-face drum sprockets are the standard for most industrial applications. Each of these sprockets has an increased surface area that results in lower contact pressure between the sprocket and the chain, and its greater wear ability is another major advantage. For a sprocket that can handle greater misalignment, the perfect alternative is the A-plate drum sprocket, which can also provide bulk-material pass-through. With the A-plate, though, the lower contact area may lead to reduced life. Tsubaki offers a third option with flange, a separate piece welded to a plate.

Tsubaki also supplies drum sprockets in three hub styles: Style 1, for bores of up to 3-15/16 inches; Style 2, with double-hub plates for bores larger than four inches; and Style 3, with XTB-type bushings for easy installation with double-hub construction. Since replacing shrunk fit components is expensive, Tsubaki recommends complete shaft assemblies to lower installation costs, as well as split-to-bolt sprockets to minimize maintenance.

These drum sprockets come in single, double, or triple construction. Single-drum sprockets have teeth that engage with the chains and offer positive traction. The can is the main structural member of the drum assembly, which may be supplied without any teeth to create a traction wheel or idler. Double-drum sprockets have multiple-strand drums supplied with shrouds to provide structural rigidity and strength; they can also come without shrouds if requested. The third option is the triple-strand combination sprocket and traction wheel; support plates are installed on assemblies with three drums or more for additional structural strength.
