Wire rope assemblies

The terms “cable” and “wire rope” are often used interchangeably, but generally wire rope is defined by diameters larger than 3/8”. Our wire rope is available in several construction types with various numbers of wires in a strand. These different types offer varying degrees of flexing and resistance to abrasion. For example, our 1 x 7 constructions are the basic strand type and provide the least stretch, while our 7 x 19 constructions are the strongest and most flexible.

We offer wire rope in several materials to meet various requirements for strength and resistance to abrasion and corrosion. We can offer stainless steel types including 302, 304, 305, 316, and 321. These various steels each offer their own advantages such as corrosion resistance, strength, and non-magnetic properties. Our carbon steel galvanized wire ropes are used when strength is essential and corrosion is less of a concern. However, our carbon steel products are coated with zinc to provide some protection from corrosion. Carbon steel also offers a lower cost than stainless steel.
