Wire Break Sensors

At IBIS Electro-Products Corp., we offer a variety of Dietz Sensortechnik sensing instruments. The IRDB series of wire break sensors is a category of blue inductive ring sensors designed to detect wire breakage. We supply three models of these devices, each of them with a different size of diameter. Ease of installation, wide operating temperature ranges, and strong construction are among the shared traits of these sensors.

Using a self-contained compact sensor technology with static switching operation, the IRDB series can detect metallic objects that travel either quickly or very slowly. Among their advantages are insensitivity to dirt, high resolution, fast response time, and adjustable pulse stretching. These wire break sensors are very easy to install and can operate within a temperature range from -25 to 70 degrees Celsius. They also have an IP65 sealing level with a sturdy polyamide housing and ceramic inner ring. Each one is protected against short circuit and polarity and operates with M12 (or three-wire) connectors.

Sensors in the IRDB series all have the following technical data in common: supply voltage of ten to 35 VDC; maximum output current of 200 mA; internal power consumption of less than ten mA; voltage insulation of 500 volts; response/release time of 0.2 milliseconds; switching frequency of ten hertz; pulse stretching that can be adjusted up to 100 milliseconds; and maximum object speed of 35 metres per second.

We can supply three sizes of Dietz wire break sensors – 4.1, 6.1, or eight millimetres (mm) in ring diameter. The two smaller sizes each weigh 100 grams, and both have a smallest detectable wire size of 0.18 mm of copper wire. The eight-millimetre model has a smallest detectable wire size of ¼ of a millimetre of copper wire and weighs 150 grams.

Founded in 2009 and based in Cambridge, Ont., IBIS offers many other sensing instruments manufactured by Dietz. Ring sensors, frame sensors, fork sensors, and light curtains are among the myriad examples we have. Our inventory also includes automation and robotics equipment for a wide range of applications.
