U.H.M.W. Sheets

Since 1942, Johnston Industrial Plastics have been industry leaders in providing Ultra-high-molecular-weight (UHMW) sheets, polypropylene tubing, and Polyether ether ketone (PEEK) rods. We are the oldest distributor of plastic shapes in Canada, and we take pride in working with a range of plastics, including nylon, vinyl, and speciality high performing materials, amongst others.

Our UHMW sheets come in various sizes, thicknesses, and colours, and are remarkably resistant. They do not absorb water, and are chemical and abrasion resistant. The low coefficient of friction on the sheets means they experience less friction force on their un-lubricated surfaces upon contact, making them less susceptible to wear and tear caused by caustic materials, and are more efficient and longer lasting than other plastics. In fact, our Ultra-high-molecular-weight plastic sheets can be used in extreme cryogenic temperatures, ranging from -250°C to 82°C.

The JAYTREX UHMW polyethylene sheet is FDA and USDA approved. They are typically used in the manufacture of wear strips, chain guides, tensioners and

chute and hopper linings. They are also used in mixer paddles, scaper blades and slides and also, in star wheel assemblies in the food industry because of their flexible and non-jamming qualities which reduce downtime.

The TIVAR 88 outwears steel by a ratio of 6:1, has high shock strength, and is lightweight. Customers from tooling, chemical, and other similar industries use the TIVAR 88 UHMW sheets to manufacture plough blades and mining dragline buckets, as liner for bulk materials, and to protect substrate from corrosion and erosion caused by sliding abrasion. Customers also use our UMHW sheets to manufacture wear strips, chain guides, star wheels, and lining for chutes and hoppers.

With facilities in Toronto, Montreal, Winnipeg, and Edmonton, we are home to the country’s largest inventory of engineering plastics, and an equally robust team of workers committed to providing knowledgeable customer care and quick delivery service. Our locations in Toronto and Montreal are proudly registered with the International Organization of Standards (ISO) 90001:2008, a non-governmental body which requires its members to adhere to high standards of product quality and customer satisfaction.
